  The 3rd Thailand International Balloon Festival (TIBF) 2009 begins today, featuring many highlights to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 82nd Birthday Anniversary.

  Culture Minister Teera Slukpetch, accompanied by Ayutthaya Governor Withaya Phiewphong and the director-general of the Fine Arts Department, inaugurated the 3rd TIBF at Wat Mahaeyong in Ayutthaya. This is the first time that the festival is organized in a world heritage city, offering the chance for Thais and foreigners to appreciate the magnificence of the landmarks. There are more than 20 aeronauts from 6 countries namely Australia, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Thailand, participating in the event. (More …)

  Thailand is a leader for lifestyle products exports 

  Director General of the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) Ms Srirat Rattapana stated that Thailand was a leader of lifestyle product industry in Asia.

  The DEP Director General said that Thailand’s gift and household decoration products were a major part to drive the country as a leader in Asia of lifestyle product industry, recognized by countries around the world for product diversity and responsibility towards the environment. (More …)

  International firework display competition to be held in December 

  The International Fireworks Contest Series in Honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen as well as to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2011 will be held at Muang Thong Thani in December.

  The press conference yesterday chaired by the Minister of Defence, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan with the aims to flourish the country’s prosperity and to show the citizen’s gratitude toward Their Majesties’ benevolence. Gen Prawit believed this celebratory event would proceed successfully without any problems regarding security.

  Permanent Secretary for Defence Gen Apichart Penkitti said the ongoing event would take place for two full years from December 2009 to December 2011. This year the event will be held at Muang Thong Thani Lake on 13 December, 14.00 hrs onward, with the fireworks displays presented by Germany, Japan and China. (More …)

  Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology scheduled to attend FNCA in Japan 

  The Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT) will attend the 10th Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA) during 15-16 December 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. The participation is aimed at acquiring knowledge in building nuclear power plants in Thailand.

  Dr Somporn Jongkam, the Director of TINT stated that the management of TINT was scheduled to participate in the 10th Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia which would be held by the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan. The forum was aimed at cooperation and exchanging views in nuclear power implementation among countries in Asia.   Thunderbirds stun Thai audiences 

  

  The stunning Thunderbirds air show in Thailand (See Thailand Hotels) caught the attention of many Thais at the cargo terminal in Don Muang Airport (See Hotels near Don Muang Airport) .

  The unforgettable air show yesterday started from 14.00 hrs at the cargo terminal of Don Muang Airport (See Hotels near Don Muang Airport), grabbing interest from people in the area. The C-17 and its company started the show, while the highlight included their 10 signature moves which lasted for 45 minutes. In addition, the 3rd demonstration of Thunderbirds in Thailand (See Thailand Hotels) is aimed to tie and expand the 175 years of relationship between Royal Thai Air Force and US Air Force.   AUSTRALIAN TRAVEL WRITERS TO CONVENE IN THAILAND FOR AGM AND AWARDS NIGHT 

  

  Australian Society of Travel Writers

  Up to 250 of Australia’s leading travel writers will descend upon Thailand between 21-23 August, 2009, for their annual general meeting and awards night, expected to be the largest off-shore event for the Australian Society of Travel Writers (ASTW) since its inception in 1975.

  The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hosting the ASTW’s AGM, which will include three days in Bangkok, and a series of six post-conference tours to different parts of Thailand.

  TAT will host a Gala Dinner for the ASTW members on 22 August, 2009, at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center @ Central World. The event will include a Thai musical and classical dance show as well as the presentation of awards for outstanding Australian travel writers, photographers, travel media organizations, and industry communicators.

  Miss Thailand Universe 2009 Chutima ‘Khaimook’ Durongdej has won the first place in the ‘Miss Photogenic’ award and the second runner-up in the ‘Best National Costume’ award in the Miss Universe 2009 contest in the Bahamas.

  

  ‘Khaimook’ Miss Thailand Universe 2009 Chutima Durongdej has won Best National Costume award

  Ms Chutima grabbed the ‘Miss Photogenic’ award from being voted by worldwide media members via the Internet. Earlier, she had won the second runner-up in the ‘Best National Costume’ award.
