  The government will organize activities along Ratchadamnoen road under the theme “Thai People’s Street of Happiness” from 3-7 December in honor of His Majesty the King’s 82nd birthday this year.

  The event is headed by the Finance Ministry. Nine activities include performances on three main stages in front of Mahakan Fort, the Democracy Monument, and the Government Lottery Office Headquarters. The opening ceremony on 3 December will be presided over by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in front of Mahakan Fort. Highlights of the celebration will be 28 processions of light-decorated vehicles with Thai famous actresses and fountain shows with royal compositions. (More …)

  New Sanam Luang by 2011 

  The landscape around Sanam Luang area will be permanently re-organized and renovated for the King’s 84th Birthday celebration in 2011.

  Bangkok’s Deputy Governor, Mr Theerachon Manomaiphiboon said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) would re-organize the area around the Grand Palace and Sanam Luang where peddlers would be strictly forbidden in the long run. In the short term, the BMA will ask for cooperation from the vendors to keep out of the area during the King’s Birthday event on 3-5 December this year.

  Moreover, the landscape around Sanam Luang will be renovated under the Strong Thailand project’s funding, to be completed in time for His Majesty’s 84th Birthday in 2011. The local police will cooperate with the district office in tightening security measures to suppress rising crimes while homeless will be ordered out of the area. (NNT)

  Teams compete for prizes in the 21st annual swan boat races at the Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Craft Centre, 19 to 20 September.

  Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centre, Ayutthaya province, is worth visiting any time of the year, but it has a special fascination for visitors in September, when the riverside complex hosts the annual international swan boat races.

  Now in its 21st year, the dates were changed this year to 19 to 20 September moving back a week from its usual mid-month slot. But it still promises to be a tough, contested, series of races with nine international teams, mainly from around Asia, vying for the annual trophy. (More …)

    This year the tourism industry of Thailand has been hurt by all sorts of bad publicity, causing tourists to lose confidence in traveling safely to Thailand. To counteract this false perception of Thailand, the TAT has launched “The Ultimate Thailand Explorers” event to create positive awareness of Thailand and inspiration for worldwide tourists to travel here, particularly through the use of the internet and web blogs, which influence tourists the most.

    The Tourism Authority of Thailand therefore invites all interested parties to attend a press conference for “The Ultimate Thailand Explorers” project launch on Monday, September 14 from 14:00 to 16:00 in Lotus Suite 5-7, Centara Grand at Central World. This event is an exciting integrated online travel competition that will promote various Thailand destinations through various social and travel related websites.

  Lin Ping panda name in Thailand

  Chiang Mai Zoo is today celebrating the 101st day of young panda Lin Ping’s life in accordance with Chinese tradition.

  The Chiang Mai Zoo will throughout today hand out gifts to visitors in celebration of Lin Ping’s 101 days of life. The marking is in line with Chinese beliefs that surpassing 101 days of life is a sign of good health and luck. Members of the Chinese Consulate in Chiang Mai will take part in a ceremony to be held throughout the morning alongside over 40 Chinese organizations in the province. (More …)

  Chiang Mai Zoo gains more income by 150% after Lin Ping´s birth 

  

  The little panda, Lin Ping help increase more income to Chiang Mai Zoo by 150%.

  Deputy Director of Chiang Mai Zoo Ms Jaruwan Chingchai revealed that after three months of the little panda’s birth, the ticket income for seeing pandas increased by 151.78% from the first quarter of this year, while the number of tourists increased by 70.09% from the first quarter. The entrance ticket income increased by 39.75%, which did not include the special price ticket. (More …)
