  Samut Songkhram hosting Mae Klong Banana Leaf Krathong festival 

  

  The Mae Klong Banana Leaf Krathong tradition in Amphawa district of Samut Songkhram has joined in with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) seven officially sponsored Loy Krathong celebrations this year.

  The Mae Klong Banana Leaf Krathong festival in Samut Songkhram is the province’s annual celebration of the Loy Kratong holiday. The event will feature not only the floating of krathongs or floating baskets constructed with eco-friendly banana leaves but will also have activities showcasing the many traditions of communities along the Mae Klong River.   Bangkok launches “Experience the Charm of the Chao Phraya River” campaign

  The Governor of Bangkok today opened the “Experience the Charm of the Chao Phraya River” event, which will throughout the day hand out travel booklets to tourists along the river. The campaign has the objective to create continual economic growth for the next year with cooperation from 100 private organizations.

  Bangkok Governor Mom Rachawong Sukhumband Paribatra presided over the launching of the campaign created in cooperation between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Bureau of Culture’s Tourism Office. The campaign is aimed at promoting tourism activities along Thailand’s most major river – the Chao Phraya. The campaign, designed to use booklets to dispense information on tourism along the Chao Phraya and in Bangkok, is part of efforts to stimulate the economy at the community level. (More …)
