  Asian Fishing Tournament begins in Ko Chang

  The International Fishing Cup Tournament Asia kicked off on Friday in Ko Chang, Trat province. 15 fishing teams from Asian countries including Thailand have signed up for the competition.

  Major General Jaraspim Therarak, the manager of the Designated Area for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of Ko Chang International Fishing Cup Tournament Asia at Bang Bao pier on the island. The event is jointly organized by the International Fishing Angler’s Associate, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Trat Tourism Business Association.   Trat fishing competition reflects artificial coral planting success 

  Trat province holds a fishing competition to evaluate the success of its project on planting artificial corals to rehabilitate marine life.

  Deputy Governor of Trat Chalor Baicharoen said at the closing ceremony that he was happy with the results of the fishing competition which drew a lot of participants. The province had invested 15 million baht to plant artificial corals off the coast of Khlong Yai district. (More …)

  Planet Ocean exhibition in Bangkok carries important message 

  

  2009 marks the 6th consecutive year for the annual French Cultural Festival ‘La Fête 2009’ in Bangkok. As part of the festival which runs until October, various exhibitions and shows are on offer. One of these, ‘Planet Ocean: Voyage to the Heart of the Marine Realm’ was launched on Friday to coincide with World Environment Day. It’s one of the festival’s highlights, in which the mysterious beauty of marine life is unveiled.

  Occupying over 75% of the earth, the undersea world’s natural richness is still very much a secret, despite scientists having confirmed the oceans as having been the source of all living creatures. (More …)
