  Thailand and US keep cooperating in the fight against HIV

  The US government confirmed that cooperative response to HIV/AIDS with Thailand would be sustained to combat the spread of AIDS and to encourage further medical research.

  US Ambassador Eric G. John in Thailand voiced confidence that the two governments would keep on working for better lives of those HIV/AIDS infected patients.

  Thailand and the US have coordinated in public health for over 40 years through many state agencies such as the US Agency for International Development (USAID), US Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS) and US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). (More …)

  Asian major cities to tackle pandemic and promote tourism 

  

  In the 8th Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC 21), Asia’s eight key cities signed the “Bangkok Declaration” in a bid to eliminate the 2009 flu pandemic and to promote tourism in a sustainable manner.

  Ms Taya Teepsuwan, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, stated that Asian countries were the most aware of these 2 issues at the moment. She believed that in accordance with the aim to develop the region, tackling these issues seriously would raise the quality of life for the people. (More …)

  Nadal withdraws from 2009 Thailand Open

  World’s number two tennis player Rafael Nadal has abruptly withdrawn from the 2009 PTT Thailand Open due to an acute injury of his right abdominal muscle.

  According to Thailand Lawn Tennis Association President Suwat Liptapanlop, Mr Nadal has submitted a medical certificate to 2009 PTT Thailand Open tournament organizers. The seven-centimeter muscle rupture of the Spanish tennis player is confirmed by ultrasound and requires a rest period of two weeks. (More …)
