    The 3G network system must benefit the society, putting the nation’s interest at heart , says Former Head of the Committee of Community Radio Operations Colonel Nattee Sukolrat.

    After resigning from the Radio and Television Committee yesterday to take the new post of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) along with Associate Professor Pana Thongmeeakom former head of the Cable Television Committee, the main task at hand for the NTC is to ensure that the set-up process and launching of 3G runs smoothly.     Telecommunication problems on the rise 

    Major mobile service providers including TOT, DTAC and AIS host a meeting along with consumer protection institutes to discuss consumer problems.

    Consumer problems and complaints included topics on the distribution of fake sims, sms spamming, limited time usage on prepaid numbers, and lack of signal strength in some areas were discussed at the meeting.

    Another problem that was of great concern was mobile phone towers that failed to meet the standards issued by the National Telecommunications Commission. Residents living near the towers experienced violent electrical appliance and circuit breaker explosions during rain and storms. Other residents feared health issues involving fatigue and reduction of mental concentration due to electro-magnetic radiation emissions from the towers. (More …)

    ICT confirms to proceed with 3G mobile system

    ICT affirmed to implement 3G mobile phone business and it would not involve license issuing from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

    Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Sub. Lt. Ranongrak Suwunchwee, said about the implementation of 3G business by TOT public Co., Ltd. that it was subject to the Ministry’s management. The service would start on 3 December 2009 in Bangkok and nearby provinces with 548 stations. The 2nd phase was on process with a budget of 20,000 million THB. A business plan would be drawn to be proposed to the Cabinet accordingly. By the end of this year the 3G network would be open to bids from the private sector. (More …)

    AOT launches the service 'Airports Flight Info'

    It is to provide people and travelers with convenient and quick access to accurate flight information via AIS based mobile phones anytime and anywhere, together with the debut of Airports Flight Info SIM, a special SIM card designed for air travel business operators, to enhance management potentials, support country’s aviation business and lift Thai airport operations to international standard.

    Serirat Prasutanond, President of AOT, disclosed “The AOT’s main policy is to develop management business and operate the respective airports with excellent services and international standard facilities in order to support country development, benefit service users and continually generate fair returns to business alliances, air transportation industry and employees. In particular, such wireless technology as mobile phones has been applied to facilitate the information infrastructure for aviation business as the additional information distribution channel and alternative to access information in response to today’s people lifestyle which is always on the move.
